The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and The New Patrotic Party (NPP), supporters of the two major political parties in Ghana, clashed last Sunday morning 13th November, 2016, infront of the Nima residence of NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
It is unclear what triggered the clashes but reports from both sides confirmed gunshots and harmful objects were thrown everywhere. Participants of an NDC sponsored health walk allege that the personal security detail of the NPP presidential candidate fired multiple shots at the sight of the crowd.
But reports from the security detail at the residence of the NPP flagbearer, Papisdaf Abdullah said that supporters of the NDC who were taking part in the health walk started throwing stones into the residence of Nana Akufo-Addo.
The Nima Police station’s timely intervention prevented the violence from turning bloody.
