Millions of Nigerians;from the Western, Southern and Eastern parts of Nigeria,are unhappy about the official declaration made by the former Vice President,Atiku Abubakar, to run for the 2019 Presidency. He has made his intention,to run for the seat of the Presidency on the Platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),officially known.
Many Nigerian citizens who spoke to us asked why the same old folks, who have held political offices and government appointments in previous Administrations,are trying to come back and practice the same old things they did in the past. “Many says Of what use or good would they be to the young and old citizens of Nigeria?”,they exclaimed!!! Many said they don’t want this old same faces, they want the young and new faces that will provide them with constant electricity, good road network National health insurance that truly works for the people nationwide etc
Some said that Atiku has nothing new to offer; other than corruption, looting and embezzlement of the Nationals Treasury and public funds.
Mr Abubakar announced his candidacy in Port Harcourt, the Capital if Rivers State,on Tuesday; just four months after dumping the All Progressives Congress.
The former Vice President said that his decision to make this announcement in Rivers State is predicated on the fact that the Rivers State Governor,Nyesom Wike, represents what he represented in year 1998/99 as the ‘livewire’ of PDP.
Governor Wike,in response, described the former VP as a presidential candidate who was revered by the APC. The Governor however played down on his own position in PDP; insisting that all the members of the party are it’s ‘live wire’.

Three years and several legal battles after,the PDP was ousted from power at the Federal level. It’s leaders believe that the party has what it takes to reclaim power in 2019.
According to Governor Wike,the PDP is not just interested in seizing power in 2019;it is it to rescue Nigeria from what he described as a period of maladministration.
The Governor called on other aspirants in the party ,not to jeopardize it’s chances in the 2019 general elections.
Mr Abubakar who contested against President Buhari for the APC Presidential ticket during the 2015 general elections,resigned from APC in November 2017. In his resignation letter,he accused the APC of embracing unconstitutionality and of failure to keep it’s promises to Nigeria.
On December 3,201,he announced his return to the PDP. Following his return to the party,he participated in it’s National Convention where Uche Seconds was elected the National Chairman of the party.
He has also held meetings with key figures in the PDP.
In January,he visited Ekiti State Governor,Ayo Fayose ;with whom he said he had a good relationship.
